Meet James
Here’s my story… I am a native of Chicago, IL and was introduced to acting while in college at Lincoln University in PA, studying for my Computer Science degree. In 1990, at the beginning of my third year at Lincoln, I was inundated with computer language and math courses, but I needed an elective to complete my course load, so I thought Acting 101 would be something fun, and an easy ‘A’ to boost my G.P.A.
Well, it wasn’t as easy as I thought – I had to put in quite a bit of effort, but in doing so it awakened something in me that I never knew was there. It was like finding a tool that fits. After that, I joined the drama club and actually performed in a play at the university. At this point, it was just a hobby and I never considered it for much more than that.
After graduation, I returned home to Chicago and in 1993 relocated to Atlanta, GA. Once in Atlanta, I focused on pursuing a career in the I.T. field, but there was a growing desire in me to do more acting. So, during the 4th year of my I.T. career, I sought out opportunities to do live theatre.
My first major role was in “Driving Miss Daisy” at a community theatre in Marietta, GA. After that, I was hooked! I pursued more roles, eventually landing roles in more than 20 plays for the following 15 + years. During that time, I also took a few classes to learn more techniques. The combination of those classes and all of the work that I put in to the various roles I’d landed has increased my growth and knowledge in the craft of acting.
I have also had a few speaking roles in independent films, but I intend on doing more as my exposure in the business increases. – James Womack, Jr.
